AAO AAM KHAIN – A Get Together
The UPA organized a get together AAO AAM KHAIN on June 11, 2010 at Syed Mubashir
Imam’s residence. At this gathering UPA members had an opportunity to socialize
with other members as well as other media professionals. At the end, Arif Bahalim,
UPA member, sang different songs on karaoke music and was appreciated by the participants.
Amma Kay Hath Ka Khana – A Fund
Raiser
A UPA Get Together Amma Kay Hath Ka Khana was organized on May 22, 2010. Beside
UPA Members several other media professionals and CEOs of the television channels
also attended the get together.
Mr. Anwar Maqsood donated his two paintings which he drew at the get together. The
paintings were sold immediately and the UPA was able to generate Rs. 59,000 from
the paintings. Mr. Adil Murad was kind enough to provide the passport copies of
legendary film actor late Waheed Murad to sell. It contributed Rs. 20,000 to the
UPA funds.
Digital Cinematography
The United Producers Association organized a seminar on Digital Cinematography addressed
by Mr. Evan Lim, Sony Broadcast & Professional, who especially traveled from Singapore
to address this Seminar.
Mr. Sohail Hashmi, Member of the General Executive Committee, United Producers Association
(UPA) moderated the seminar. He also gave an introduction for the UPA & Channel
Tek, the organizer & the sponsor.
Mr. Evan Lim gave in-depth details of the Digital Cinematography. He also informed
the participants about the different types of cameras that are being used for digital
cinematography in Pakistan as well as cameras used at the international level. This
interesting seminar was followed by Question & Answer Session which was helpful
to all the attending the seminar.
Mr. Lim was later presented with a shield on behalf of the UPA, by Vice Chairman
UPA and members of the General Executive Committee UPA, which included Syed Mubashir
Imam, Misbah Ishak Khalid, Rashid Sami and Sohail Hashmi.
UPA at the Media Pakistan
2009
United Producers Association set up a stall at the Media Exhibition 2009 at the
Karachi Expo Centre. At the stall, the UPA, distributed pamphlets, brochures, profiles
and screened different show reels of the UPA members (free of cost) to facilitate
UPA members and promote UPA & its activities in the media industry.
During this 3-day media exhibition several ministers including Ms. Sherry Rehman,
Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Ms. Shazia Marri, Sindh Information
Minister and several other media personalities including UPA members & hundreds
of media professionals & students visited the UPA stall. Several new members also
joined the UPA during this media exhibition.
Governor Punjab, Salmaan Taseer
hosted a reception at the Governor's House
Lahore, December 19, 2008: The Governor Punjab, Salmaan Taseer hosted a reception
at the Governor's House to meet members of the United Producers Association (UPA)
and related media partners. The event was largely attended by personalities from
all parts of the media included television producers, writers, actors, anchors,
columnists and television channel owners.
In her speech Atiqa Odho, Chairperson UPA gave a brief on UPA, its past and present
projects, its vision and problems. She stressed the need to improve the quality
of programming and coordination between the producers and relevant trade partners.
The Governor Punjab, Salmaan Taseer in his following address thanked the large attendance
of the media and said that the Government was committed to help the media industry
in general and the producers in particular. He was also of the opinion that in the
present times the industry needs organizations such as UPA as the television industry
is at a fast growing stage.
He was later presented with a shield on behalf of the UPA by Atiqa Odho, Chairperson,
Samina Ahmed, General Secretary, Rashid Khawaja, Aftab Akbar, M. Yaseen Malik and
Khurram Rana, members of the General Executive Committee.
Reception At The Sindh Governor
House
The Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ibad Khan this week hosted a reception at the
Sindh Governor House to meet the members of the United Producers Association (UPA)
and related media partners. An event largely attended by personalities from all
parts of media included television producers, writers, actors, anchors, columnist,
television channel owners and advertising agency gurus.
In her speech Atiqa Odho, Chairperson UPA gave a brief on UPA, its past and present
projects, its vision and problems. She stressed on all relevant trades with reference
to television in particular and media in general to improve the content seen by
the masses.
The Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ibad Khan in his following address thanked the
large attendance of media and emphasized the need to eliminate extremism through
creativity. He asserted his consent to help and assist the media in his fullest
capacity.
He was later presented with a shield on behalf of the UPA by Atiqa Odho, Rashid
Sami, Jalal Ansari and Sohail Hashmi, the chairperson and members of the General
Executive Committee.
The UPA members' visit to India
for 'Frames 2008'
The United Producers Association (UPA) took a delegation consisting of 48 members
to India for FRAMES 2008. It is the biggest global convention in Asia on the business
of entertainment and is strongly supported by the Government of India and other
agencies and associations. It provides financing options, a legal framework & research
reports on the entertainment industry.
It was a three day media convention. UPA members got the chance to interact with
eminent Indian as well as international media personalities including Yash Chopra,
Ramesh Sippi, Mahesh Bhatt, Sharmila Tagore and Shayam Benegal.
The UPA delegation was able to attend different seminars, workshops and panel discussions
with distinguished speakers from all over the world on the business of media & entertainment.
They were invited to visit Yash Raj Studio which they accepted gladly. The delegates
were shown the studio floor and the techniqal facilties available in the studio.
It was an eventful occasion and an eye-opener visit for the members of the United
Producers Association (UPA) and they enjoyed every moment of this three-day media
& entertainment convention.
Dinner With Shahid
Mehmood Nadeem
A dinner was hosted by Rashid Sami of Kohinoor Studios in honour of Mr. Shahid Nadeem,
a UPA member visiting from Lahore. Seen in the photos are Mr. & Mrs. Rashid Sami,
Mr. & Mrs. Shahab Zuberi, Shahid Mehmood Nadeem and Madiha Gohar.
Dinner Adlabs Group
Kohinoor Studios recently organized a business visit for Adlabs Group, India, to
Pakistan. Thsese pictures were taken at a dinner hosted at the studio by Rashid
Sami, the CEO of Kohinoor Studios.
Ramchand Pakistani was recently released in Indian & Pakistani cinemas. It is the
third Pakistani film, after Khuda Kay Liye and Salakhain, to be released in India.
Ramchand Pakistani was directed & produced by Mehreen Jabbar, a highly talented
director & producer from Pakistan who has produced a number of highly-praised and
award-winning dramas and plays. Interestingly, the producers of all the three movies
released in India belong to Pakistan's TV industry.
Ramchand Pakistani's cast included Indian actress Nandita Das, Rashid Farooqui,
Noman Ijaz, Syed Fazal Hussain, Maria Wasti, Navaid Jabbar, Shahood Alvi and Zhaley
Sarhadi.
Dinner with the Managing Director,
PTV
The UPA recently held a dinner in the honor of Mr. Yousaf Baig Mirza, the new Managing
Director of state run television, Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). Mr. Yousaf
Baig Mirza unfolded the policy of Pakistan Television Corporation towards the independent
producers of the local media industry. He assured his full support and cooperation
to the private producers and stressed on the need to resolve the problems of private
production houses and independent producers. The meeting was well attended by the
UPA members and the leading personalities of the local media industry.
Launching Ceremony of drama serial
"Taj Mahal"
The launching ceremony of drama serial "Taj Mahal" was held in Lahore, recently.
It was the first drama serial of Zeb Chaudhry, a UPA member, as director. It was
well attended by the leading show biz personalities of Pakistan, which includes,
Rashid Khawaja, Chairman, UPA, Samina Ahmed, General Secretary, UPA, Atiqa Odho,
Sohail Hashmi, Lyla Zuberi, film star Reema, Jia Ali and many more.
Taj Mahal consisted of 20 episodes. The cast includes, Asad, Zeb Chaudhry, Ahsan
Khan, Khayam Sarhady etc. The drama serial was written by Rahman Qamar and produced
by Rizwan Ghani. Taj Mahal would be telecast from a local entertainment channel,
very soon.
